In general, DAP caulks and sealants, like DAP ALEX PLUS and DYNAFLEX 230, need air circulation for proper drying due to water or solvent evaporation. Enclosed spaces without adequate air penetration are not ideal for application.
Cracking can occur if the caulk or sealant, such as DAP ALEX FAST DRY, is applied too thickly or thinly, leading to shrinkage or lack of flexibility. Proper application techniques are essential to avoid cracking.
DAP’s most flexible products are those tested to ASTM C 920 standards, like DAP EXTREME STRETCH, DYNAFLEX 230, and DYNAFLEX ULTRA, known for their high elasticity and durability.
If you’ve used a non-paintable product like DAP 100% Silicone, it must be completely removed and replaced with a paintable sealant, such as DAP ALEX PLUS, which can be painted over.
